You might think of Class B RVs as only for long-term #vanlife. But an Airstream Touring Coach can just as easily become a go-to family vehicle for short trips, events, entertaining, and more. We’ll break down some scenarios you might not have thought of, along with recommending the Airstream Touring Coach that’s perfectly suited for your needs.

Day Trips and Tailgating: The Interstate 24GL

The Airstream Interstate 24GL (Grand Lounge) is specifically built for entertaining. The 24GL is a Class B RV built on a Mercedes-Benz® Sprinter Van chassis and up-fitted with Airstream designs inside and out.  This coach can completely transform your tailgate experience, with nine seats for guests – including the two captain’s chairs in the front that swivel to face any direction you like.      To keep everyone entertained, there are two widescreen TVs in the 24GL; one in the front and one in the back. Play the pre-game coverage on one and a favorite movie on the other.      Stream music from your phone to the built-in speaker system, or use the radio.      Wow everyone with your snack-making abilities. You could make a whole meal if you wanted to with the galley onboard, including a two-burner gas stove, a sink, a microwave, and plenty of counter space to chop and prep. The all-electric onboard refrigerator keeps your beverages and fresh produce cold while using minimal power.      And where would you be without an onboard restroom? It’s easy to clean and keep clean and bound to be a hit with your guests.

In-Law Suite: The Atlas

Hosting the in-laws at your home? The Airstream Atlas just might be the guest suite of your dreams. We affectionately call the Atlas a Class B+ because of all of the features and space we’ve added inside.  If you’re worried about your in-laws having enough room, the Atlas puts those worries to bed. Literally. On the driver’s side is a power slide-out. With the slide-out extended, there’s extra room to lounge on the couch or to expand the built-in Murphy bed.      It’s not a rollaway bed experience; it’s true luxury. Next to either side of the bed are reading lights with personal cubbies. And across from the bed, a widescreen smart TV rises out of the entertainment cabinet with the push of a button.      Your guests will love having their own kitchen to stash away their favorite foods and have a snack without bothering you.      And they won’t stop talking about the bathroom. Spanning the entire rear of the coach, the three-piece bathroom is as close to home as it gets. The shower features a teak inlay and LED lighting for a luxury feel, and the vanity and closet offer plenty of storage for clothes, shoes, and toiletries.

Toy Towing Dream: The Interstate 24GT

The Airstream Interstate 24GT (Grand Tour) is a couple and family favorite for longer trips, and if you’re headed somewhere great, why not bring your toys? Like all Airstream Touring Coaches, the 24GT has a towing capacity of up to 5,000 pounds.  That means you can easily tow:
  • Jet skis
  • Wave runners
  • Small flat-bottom fishing boats
  • Snowmobiles
  • Motorcycles
  • Dirt bikes
  • ATVs
  • UTVs
Check out this post, where we break down toys you can tow: Towing Toys with an Airstream Touring Coach. The best part of towing with an Airstream Touring Coach is the Mercedes-Benz driving and safety features you’ll have every step of the way.  The 24GT comes standard with a 360-degree rear camera, side cameras, and parking sensors – all of which will display and readout on your dash.

Home Base Plus Tents: The Interstate 19

If you’re itching to get more in touch with nature solo or with a small family, the Airstream Interstate 19 can be the perfect home base on which to build a bigger camp.  The Interstate 19 is a Class B RV built on a Mercedes-Benz Sprinter Van chassis. At only 19 feet long, it’s our smallest, most nimble touring coach. It’s compact enough to get into standard parking spots and ready for open-air camping – it all depends on where you want to go.  Pile into the 19 to get to camp, and then spread out under the power awning.      You can close the side and rear screen doors and let the natural breeze flow in.      And you can set up tents around the RV for the night. Flip a coin to decide who gets to sleep inside; it’s always going to be a bit of a fight.
