Rise and shine everyone, it’s camping time! In my mind there’s no better way to get away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life than a camping trip. Taking a break from our busy lives is much needed and spending a few days at a campground with the family, away from daily schedules, work and chores is one of the best ways of doing it. This past weekend my family and I had the chance to go camping in a brand-new Airstream Globetrotter Travel Trailer. Coming it at 23 feet long with twin beds inside, it was the perfect size for our family of 4. Two adults and two kids, 5 and 3 years old. The beauty of the Airstream is that it provides the best amenities while out at the campground. A full bathroom, kitchen, stovetop, oven, refrigerator and a very comfortable sleeping area make the trip much more enjoyable. And the secret gem? The brand-new Weber grill that connects directly to the Airstream's low pressure liquid propane gas connection that makes grilling outdoors a breeze!
Our adventure starts in the suburbs of Chicago. We like to travel and camp in the Wisconsin Dells area in the state of Wisconsin. It’s only a 3-hour drive which makes it easy on the kids yet far enough to take a break from familiar surroundings. We packed the Airstream Thursday evening and left for the campground first thing Friday morning. The drive up north was very smooth. The Airstream is a dream to tow and we arrived at the campground before lunchtime. The campground we were staying at had a pool and splash pad area for the kids, so they wanted to go in the water as soon as we got there. While they went to the pool I unhitched the Airstream, plugged in for power, water and sewer and got started on lunch.
I fired up the Weber grill and made cheeseburgers for the family. Since the Weber plugs in directly to the Airstream for low-pressure propane, I had it up and running in just a few minutes. I grilled up some tasty burgers and called the family back for lunch. Burgers must have been delicious or the kids were very hungry, because the food was all gone in minutes! I wish they ate like this at home.
After lunch we played board games, caught butterflies, played with superheroes and just enjoyed some quality family time. It was great not having a schedule, no errands, no chores, just family and enjoying the time outdoors. After a day full of excitement and fun, we all retrieved to the comfy inside of the Airstream and went to bed.
The next day was equally as fun. We spent the day at the pool and exploring the campground. The kids played at the arcade and the playground. We spent more time at our campsite playing games and doing even more grilling. The Weber grill came in very handy during dinner. We grilled up steaks, asparagus and corn. What an awesome way to finish off the trip!
Even though we were only there for 2 nights, it was enough to recharge our batteries and spend some quality time together. It’s easy to get caught up in our everyday lives and miss out on these family opportunities. Taking the Airstream out for the weekend was a great way to strengthen the family bonds and enjoy the outdoors. Can’t wait till the next adventure!
