Often viewed as a gateway Airstream for those ready to step up from tent or car camping, the Bambi line punches well above its weight class. The 16RB, 20FB, and 22FB Bambi Travel Trailers pack a ton of features into shorter, lighter-weight trailers with super-efficient floor plans that make it fun and easy to hitch up, head out, and kick back. In fact, many Bambi owners find that they can tow using the vehicle they already have in the garage.
Featuring all the comforts of home – an onboard kitchen, bathroom, living and sleeping space, plus heating, hot water, and comfort systems – Bambi delivers iconic Airstream style and an upgrade over traditional tent camping. If you’re ready to sleep on something other than the hard ground or want to say goodbye to hotels while bringing along your own accommodations, Bambi is the perfect way to start your own Airstream adventure.

The Airstream Bambi Travel Trailer: An Adventurous Heritage
The Bambi name has a long history. It first appeared during Airstream’s 1959-1960 Cape Town to Cairo Caravan as a nickname for any single-axle Airstream trailer. Today’s Bambi embodies the spirit, quality, and durability of those early models that trekked the length of Africa. And, like every Airstream, Bambi benefits from constant thoughtful improvement.
New for the 2025 model year, for example, the Bambi 16’s fresh water tank is below the floor, and the electrical center is now located under the dinette, creating more under-bed storage. Also, the 19-foot Bambi has been retired to allow more focus on the other three floor plans.
Everything You Need to Get Out There
Every Bambi sleeps up to four people and comes equipped with everything you need to adventure in comfort. You just have to decide which floor plan suits your travel needs.
The Bambi line ensures year-round comfort with direct discharge air conditioning and heat strips. When the weather is nice, open your Bambi’s panoramic front windows and bring the outside in.
The galley features a two-burner stainless steel stove with cast iron burners, a microwave oven, a 12V DC electric refrigerator with freezer and a stainless steel sink.
Watch Bambi’s 24” Smart TV from the bed or lounge area. The TV connects via Bluetooth® to the JL Audio® Stereo to provide a surround sound experience. Draw the roller shades for privacy and the black-out curtains for a great night’s sleep.
Bambi’s two interior decor options help create a warm, relaxing atmosphere. Dune is inspired by sandy seashores and rocky coasts. Its delicate patterns and subtle beige tones convey a serene sense of possibility. Ocean, with its bold blue seating, features a dynamic color palette that welcomes you back to a restful space after a day of exploration and adventure.
Airstream Bambi Travel Trailer Floor Plans
Bambi 16RB
The Bambi 16RB (Rear Bed) packs all these amenities into a compact and efficient floor plan. It has a 48” wide bed and a spacious front dinette area that converts into a bed for two. The midsection “wet bath” combines a shower, toilet, and sink. The galley, also located in the unit's center, has a two-burner stove, a microwave oven, a stainless steel sink, and a 3.1 cubic foot 12V electric refrigerator with freezer.
The Bambi 16’s layout also delivers plenty of storage space, including a hanging closet next to the rear bed, under-the-bed storage, kitchen cabinets, and several overhead cabinets. The Bambi 16RB is available with an optional 100 Watts of roof-mounted solar and – like all three floor plans – it comes prewired with a hitch-mounted plug for connecting portable panels that expand your total solar capacity. And owners that want to go farther and explore remote boondocking campsites can take advantage of a 200Ah optional lithium battery upgrade.
Bambi 20FB
The Bambi 20FB’s added space and enhanced capabilities allow you to roam farther. The 20FB galley, located in the rear, includes a larger 4.1 cubic foot electric refrigerator, more storage, and added counter space around the two-burner stove. In fact, the Bambi 20FB has more counter space than some of our larger dual-axle trailers, making it ideal for the mobile chef or culinary adventurer. The roomy bathroom, also in the rear, features a standalone shower with a built-in seat alongside the sink and toilet area.
The 48”-wide bed is located below the panoramic front window. The dinette in the midsection of the trailer converts to a second bed.
The Bambi 20FB is available with an optional 200 Watts of roof-mounted solar panels (plus additional portable panels can be connected to the external solar port on the hitch). It can also be equipped with an optional 200Ah lithium battery upgrade.
Bambi 22FB
The Bambi 22FB kicks everything up a notch, providing all the 20RB’s amenities in a floorplan with added living and storage space, including a larger hanging closet and a larger and longer (54”-wide) main bed.
A full-height wood divider between the primary bed and lounge in the 22FB provides additional privacy. And like its shorter siblings, the 22FB is available with an optional 200 Watts of solar and a 200Ah lithium battery upgrade, plus a front solar port for adding portable panels.
Exterior Features Galore
Take a walk around Bambi, and you’ll notice a ton of features designed to ease and enhance your Airstream adventures, including:
- Airstream's iconic curved aluminum shell exterior, which is both aerodynamic and iconic.
- Powered tongue jack with light that makes hitching and unhitching simpler and more accessible.
- 3M film front rock guards to protect your Bambi from road debris.
- Tinted solar guard protection for the font windows
- Outdoor shower that’s perfect for cleaning up both adventurers and their gear.
- Retractable patio awning that provides shaded outdoor space.
Towing a Bambi
The Bambi line’s light weight creates a wide range of tow vehicle options. Some new Bambi owners can tow it with their current truck or SUV.
There are several weights and factors to consider when selecting a tow vehicle. One key metric is the tow vehicle’s Tow Rating, which must meet or exceed the trailer’s Gross Vehicle Weight Rating (GVWR) — the maximum allowable weight of the trailer when fully loaded.
All Bambi Travel Trailers have a GVWR of between 3,500 and 5,000 lbs., making it easy to tow with a variety of light duty trucks and SUVs – you may even be able to tow it with the vehicle you already have in your garage.
