As a Mercedes-Benz® partner, Airstream strictly follows the luxury automaker’s Master Upfitter requirements for their Sprinter van chassis when building our Interstate and Atlas models. This is a strict standard that not all Class B RV manufacturers follow – but one that guarantees your Airstream touring coach will stand out above the competition when it comes to quality and craftsmanship. As such, the size, weight, and necessity of every feature is carefully considered to create an ideal balance of optimum performance, onboard convenience, and a premium RV experience.
Beyond the basic choice between the comprehensive luxury offered by an Airstream touring coach and the corner cutting you may find elsewhere in the market, Airstream touring coach customers must consider their own lifestyles and travel goals when selecting from available models and features. Airstream’s design philosophy ensures that you’ll find a model that’s well-suited to your individual preferences. Because all models are built and appointed with only the highest quality specifications and materials, Airstream touring coaches are already well-equipped in their standard configuration.
The optional upgrades available for Airstream's lineup of Mercedes-Benz® touring coaches are focused on flexible customizations, boondocking simplification, and off-grid enhancements. Keep these considerations in mind when you start your own Airstream touring coach selection process.

Standard Features on Airstream’s Mercedes-Benz Touring Coaches: Quality Is Not Optional
Airstream’s touring coach design philosophy is centered on the idea that the majority of features offered in our touring coach lineup should not be optional. This is part of what separates our Class B motorized RVs apart from the competition. Regardless of whether you’re leaning toward the Interstate lineup or the Atlas, you won’t find any compromises when it comes to quality. Premium Airstream Class B experiences are built on a foundation of high-quality standard features.
Enjoy the “Air” Ride: Standard Suspension on Interstate 24 and Atlas models
Because of the size and Class B length of Airstream's 24-foot touring coach models – Interstate 24GL, Interstate 24GT, Interstate 24X, and Atlas – Air Ride suspension is an approved feature by the Mercedes-Benz Master Upfitter standard. Air Ride automatically adjusts to driving conditions to give drivers more control and stability while making the cabin more comfortable for passengers. Combined with long-lasting and durable Alcoa Dura-Bright wheels in the Interstate lineup and OE Wheelworks Triple Chrome Finish wheels on Atlas, Air Ride minimizes wear and tear and the need for maintenance on tires and brakes.
Power In Reserve: Lithium-Ion Batteries
Reliable battery performance is a vital part of the motorized RV experience and another area where Airstream simply won’t compromise with sub-optimal choices. All of Airstream’s Mercedes-Benz touring coach models are standard-equipped with industry-preferred lithium-ion batteries, which fuels (and potentially extends) your camping or boondocking adventures. You’ll find Battle Born, 2,400 watt-hour (Wh) batteries on the Interstate 19, Interstate 24 and Atlas models. For maximum off-grid capabilities, consider the optional E1 Package which supplies 12,000 Wh performance (see Optional Upgrades section below for more E1 information).
Cabin Comfort Comes Standard
Providing a comfortable, safe and enjoyable driving experience are prerequisites of Airstream touring coach design. Our designers select every available driving convenience and safety feature that can be outfitted on the Mercedes-Benz chassis.
When it comes to comfort, seating materials are top of mind. In the rugged, adventure-ready Interstate X touring coaches – Interstate 24X and the new Interstate 19X – Simtex Marine-Grade Carbon provides not only great comfort throughout the cabin, but also durable, easy-to-clean properties that stand up to what you throw at it. Beyond Interstate X, we upholster our cabin seating with soft, easy-to-clean Ultraleather. In the cockpit, all of Airstream’s Mercedes-Benz recreational vehicles feature seating that’s removed during the manufacturing process and reupholstered with Ultraleather for long-lasting, travel-friendly comfort while on the road.
Beyond seating, safety features include airbags for drivers and passengers, collision prevention, lane assist, and side and rearview cameras — providing ample protection and visibility for all onboard while creating a less stressful ride. And we include extra chassis features like power-folding and heated side-view mirrors, heated windshields, and powered and heated swiveling captain’s chairs.
Premium Materials, Finishes and Quality Craftsmanship
Our touring coach designs are built on a combination of premium construction materials, luxurious finishes, and handmade craftsmanship. Iconic Airstream aluminum is applied to the walls and ceiling, providing a more durable and aesthetically pleasing alternative to traditional fabrics — and resistance to moisture and the retention of cabin odors. Marine-grade flooring – common in luxury yacht design – is a major step-up from the typical carpeting used in Class B RVs, which will look fresh and new even after years of faithful service.
Solid-surface countertops in the galleys provide the same appealing form and durable function as those found in the finest home kitchens. Wood cabinetry is custom-fit to each touring coach and hand-built by Airstream craftspeople to ensure the installation is square, plum, and flush with the vehicle.

Optional Upgrades in Airstream’s Mercedes-Benz Lineup: From Personalization to Above and Beyond
Airstream’s no-compromises approach to standard features leaves very little room or need for optional upgrades. The available optional features represent options that are above and beyond the norm, allowing Airstream customers to extend their capabilities and meet their specific travel preferences. Keep in mind that these upgrades are also engineered within all applicable design standards and safety requirements.
Touring in Your Style: Four Stunning Decor Choices, Including the Tommy Bahama Special Edition
Airstream customers have a variety of décor options to match their styles and preferences. Atlas and Interstate touring coach models currently have four interior decor choices from which to pick – from modern and bright to sleek and formal. For those who love the island life, the Tommy Bahama Special Edition upgrade in our Mercedes-Benz lineup offers beachy vibes, tropical decor, and additional special features such as a built-in bar, wooden window shades, and an accessory kit with a cooler, beach chairs, towels, and more.
Upgrade Your Off-Grid Capabilities with the E1 Package
For those seeking to stay off-grid longer or run all electronic amenities while traveling, the robust optional E1 Package helps you plug into the full potential of Airstream touring coach ownership. The heart of the E1 upgrade is its massive Volta 12,000 Wh battery and 3,200-Watt inverter — which delivers up to five times more power than the standard system and eliminates the need for on-board generators.
The E1 Package upgrade also features a single-fuel source system that removes the hassle of liquid propane management. The system draws from the same diesel fuel tank that powers the engine to support typical RV living, showering, and heating. Its Timberline 2.0 diesel-fired hydronic heating and hot water system provides on-demand hot water to the sinks and shower while supplying a consistent heat source for interior comfort.
Level Up with Hydraulic Jacks
On our 24-foot Interstate models, optional hydraulic leveling jacks provide additional stability and security when camping, boondocking, or tailgating for the big game. Because of the extra weight capacity of the Atlas’s Sprinter van 4500 chassis, hydraulic leveling jacks come standard.
Add More Sleeping Quarters with the Optional Front Bed System
Whether you need extra sleeping space for your regular traveling crew or want to be prepared for those occasions when you have an extra guest onboard (i.e., pet, friend, or relative), the front bed system is smart optional add-on. Available for purchase directly through Airstream Supply Company, our front bed system transforms the cockpit into comfortable sleeping quarters and then stows away neatly when not in use. Window screens add privacy and allow evening breezes to flow through — while keeping the bugs out!
Maximizing Quality without Compromises
Configuring an Airstream touring coach is not the typical experience you might find with other motorized RV manufacturers. The key difference is that Airstream’s starting point is already at a higher quality trim level than the flagship packages of other manufacturers. It’s this no-compromises approach that makes it so special to be a part of an exclusive Airstream community.
